Moving Checklist

The buyer’s check list to moving. You’ve found the home, now you have to move. It doesn’t matter how far you are going, moving can take a great deal of time for preparation and coordination.

Weeks Prior

1. Pick up a change of address form from the post office if necessary

2. Make a list of all items that will need address changes
     a. Credit cards
     b. Bank accounts
     c. Subscriptions to magazines
     d. Driver’s license
     e. Insurance company (automobile, life, health, etc.)

3. If you are moving to a new area (out of the city, out of the state) 
     a. Ask your doctor, dentist, etc. for a referral in the new area. 
     b. Research and obtain all required documents to enroll in a new school for yourself or your children
     c. Call the local DMV if moving states

4. Pack everything that you don’t frequently use and label boxes for convenience

5. Make reservations or arrangements for moving your boxes, furniture, and appliances 

6. Inform utility companies of your move 

A Week Before

1. Confirm reservations or arrangements for moving

2. Check with utility companies to ensure cancellation

3. Call new utility companies to set up or transfer service

4. Verify closing date and time, check in day and time, or lease date and time

5. All excess should be packed and necessities only remaining

Moving Day

1. Clean up

2. Pack up necessities. Make sure they are labelled and accessible for arrival at your new place

3. Submit change of address form, inform important parties of your move, and make sure you call all the companies on your checklist from step 2 (under weeks prior)

4. Confirm utilties have been transferred to your new place and shut off (or transferred) at your current location

5. Breathe, it’s almost over

We all know about the foreclosure crisis and market slow down. But apparently there is some optimism that things will stabilize or get better in the next 5 years. According to a survey, over half of homeowners feel that their homes will not be worth less in 5 years. Take a look at the Home Values 2008 Real Estate Survey. Do you agree?

Stand Up For America Day

Every last saturday in April, Port Wentworth has the Stand Up For America Day. It honors the all of America’s service men and women who have and are serving. They have a parade, kiddie kids, music, arts, crafts, and fireworks. The festivities begin at 9 am and continue on til 11 pm. So, come out April 26th to show your support and have some fun! Homes can be as Unique as People

Everyone has there own ideas and fashion sense. Life is interesting because we all have an unique set of qualities. They define who we are. When you believe in something strongly enough, you make it happen. That’s what these two artists did. They built a house NOT for mere mortals. Is this the future of all houses? Probably not. But, it does make a statement though.
